BOOKS!

Carefully and snobbishly curated by our self-proclaimed resident book nerds, Dog-Eared Café boasts over 5,000 titles in varied genres and features the finest collection of pre-loved books this side of the William Street Bridge.

Scouted, pilfered and thrifted by us—as well as having been generously donated by local residents—we seek out only the finest second hand reads in as near to new condition as we can get our hands on. They’re then priced frivolously and are marked conveniently with colour coded stickers.

There’s new arrivals every week to browse, and the best part? You can buy as many as you’d like!

BOOK donations:

Do you take book donations?

YES! Through our Dog-Eared Loyalty Club!

When is a good time to drop off books?

Ideally we prefer that donations come our way either before 10am, or after 2pm, Monday to Friday, but never on weekends please. We like to have time to go over your collection with you to endow you with Dog-Eared Loyalty Points.

What is the Dog-Eared Loyalty Club?

The Dog-Eared Loyalty Club is our in-house loyalty program for those of you who have way, way too many books yet still want more!

How does it work?

Were you to decide that the time has come to liquidate your collection of amazing novels, short story collections, genre fictions, non-ficiotn, or child’s books, just load up a box, a bag, a gharry, wain, tram, neap, or trundle, and any of the books you bring to us that we feel would be a good fit on our shelves (ie: in as close to new condition as possible), will be exchanged for a unique “Dog-Eared Mug” stamp, valued at $2 and honoured towards purchase of future book purchases at Dog-Eared Café on your very own loyalty card which conveniently doubles as an adorable bookmark!

What about the books that you don’t deem worthy of your snobbishly selective store?

Although all books are worth reading, and we are willing to take any books you’re willing to donate, only those in the finest condition will be honoured with loyalty points towards future book purchases as we can’t afford to offer a $2 store credit on books in lesser condition.

Will you take old library books?

Yes, but old library books will not be honoured for our loyalty system. With old library books, we sell them for $2 and the proceeds will go to a monthly local charity of our choosing.

Can I exchange loyalty points for delicious coffee drinks, decadent baked goods, or delectable soups or sandwiches?

No, sorry. Were we to exchange used books—which could easily sit unsold on our shelves for years—for delicious coffee drinks, decadent baked goods, or delectable soups and sandwiches, we’d die of starvation or scurvy long before we saw any profits. That would be a truly horrible business practice and we’d be very un-smart business peoples for offering such a deal. And as we’d love to be in service of the fine people of Paris and all of its many curious visitors for many, many years to come, every penny counts towards keeping the quality of our products and service unparalleled.

If you’re interested in donating books to our lovely shop, please email us to arrange a time, and please note that we cannot accept donations on Saturday or Sunday.
